Death toll from Yerevan market blast rises to 15 — emergencies ministry

The bodies of nine victims have not yet been identified

YEREVAN, August 16. The death toll from the blast and a subsequent fire at Yerevan’s Surmalu wholesale market has risen to 15, the press service of the Armenian emergencies ministry reported on Tuesday.

“During the rescue operation rescuers of the emergencies ministry have retrieved bodies of 15 people, including one child,” according to the statement.

The bodies of nine victims have not yet been identified, another 18 people, including a citizen of the Russian Federation, are considered missing.
