plot summary

The Lost Hero is the story of Calum Worthy, a young man who has been found wandering the streets of Dublin after spending months lost in a coma. He is assumed to be dead but is discovered to be alive when he is treated for injuries he sustained while fleeing the city.

Calum is taken in by a kind couple and begins to recover. While he’s recovering, he meets Eoghan MacCarthy, an apprentice faery hunter who has been searching for Calum all winter. Eoghan believes that Calum may be the key to stopping the evil force that’s been plaguing his city.

Meanwhile, back at Calum’s family home, his mother and sister are waiting anxiously for him to come home. When they hear about his discovery, they fly out to Dublin to meet him.

Despite his family’s happiness to have him back, Calum struggles with feeling like a fraud and not being able to do anything himself. He starts therapy and begins to learn how to walk again…but he’s still not sure if he can really trust himself or Eoghan.

The author of the book, “The Lost Hero” is Jason Reynolds. Reynolds is a well-known author who has written other books such as “If I Stay” and “Mockingjay.” He has also been a contributing writer for The Huffington Post and Book Riot.

Reynolds was born in Pensacola, Florida in 1970. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in journalism. After college, he worked as a reporter for the Tampa Tribune before leaving to become a full-time writer.

Reynolds’ first novel, “If I Stay,” was published in 2011 and tells the story of Mia, a high school student who must make a difficult choice: stay with her loved ones during a devastating tornado or try to escape to safety.
